Talking (Pilates) Story

MY STORY

My journey with Pilates mirrors the story of the Three Little Pigs. After struggling with pain for years pre and post-back surgery, I tried various remedies - my 'houses of hay and sticks', which offered temporary relief but no lasting solution. Then, I found Pilates, which not only made me see my body differently BUT had me experience pain-free living for the first time in years. I had finally found my 'house of bricks' - strong, enduring, and transformative. Pilates gave me a new life and my goal is that "Brick House", can be a place where others can find renewal for their bodies too.

Hi! I am Nilce! Notice the pigs around? They're a playful nod to the fable that inspired the name Brick House Pilates, reflecting my commitment to building strength and resilience.

Pilates combines low-impact movements, controlled breathing and gentle stretching to improve strength, balance, flexibility and endurance. It helps reach deep stabilizing muscles from the core, back and glutes to work on all muscle groups.

Often, Pilates is seen as a fitness method for the affluent or the highly athletic. My goal is to challenge this view and introduce Pilates to those who normally might not have the opportunity to benefit from it.

About Nilce's teaching

I have had a remarkable journey of healing through the exceptional guidance of Nilce.
I am 68 years old and suffered from chronic back, leg and hip pain for the last ten years. Through a combination of physical therapy, and Pilates classes thee days a week I am pleased to report that I am no longer in pain.
Much of my recovery and maintenance is due to Nilce’s experience, and dedication to her practice and to her Pilates’ students. Nilce has demonstrated her exceptional knowledge in helping her students heal and grow stronger. She is respected and well liked for her passion and skills to help people heal and live fuller, more productive lives.
As an educator for more than 46 years, I have seen my fair share of effective and ineffective teachers. Nilce falls into the highly effective group. She is always prepared and is intentional about providing individual guidance as many of us navigate through the physical and mental challenges posed by Pilates.
